British Columbia truly is a gateway to the pacific. British Columbia is the western most province of Canada and is often abbreviated as B.C. Canada consists of ten provinces and three territories (the third, called Nunavut, since April 1, 1999). British Columbia is the third largest province both in size and population. The total area of the province is 95 million hectares, this makes the province larger than Germany and France combined. Only thirty countries in the world are larger than the single province of British Columbia. The population is 3.9 million (1997) and with something for everyone British Columbia's population will continue to rise.
